Affiliate programmes may be used if you are operating a commercial web site (or a private one which gets lots of visitors), to build an income from your visitors by linking to complementary sites who will pay you a commission for any sales made to visitors sent to them from your site. Not only can this provide an extra source of revenue to you, for very little work, it can also provide your customers with an extra service by offering them goods related to your site that you do not stock yourself. There are several UK based Affiliate Networks, who operate programmes for a variety of merchants. They are free to join and you can have the links up on your site in a matter of minutes. They also offer affiliate support in varying degrees. The best thing to do is check them all out and select which of their merchants best fit in with your site. The leading UK Networks that offer a wide range of programmes are as follows:- The major world wide network is Commission Junction, a US based company who offer worldwide merchants as well as UK and Ireland specific programmes. You may also try the Link Share affiliate program which again has hundreds of (mostly US) merchants.
